External gamepad problems

So the main reason for this review is that I cant get the game the respond to my MADCATZ C.T.R.L.i controller. I start the game and it recognizes that there is a controller connected (I see that it shows to press the L2 and R2 buttons to go to the different menus and etc.), but it wont respond when I press any buttons or move the joysticks. Ive tried quitting the app, rebooting my phone and everything else with no luck. Im on an iPhone 5s btw so it shouldnt be a problem with the phone... Sooo yeah, not sure what to do... Seems like a cool game though...
